Is Valve finally starting to act on user reports? And what was being done before, nothing?
Hopefully I can get to play CS:GO more in the near future, because of this change and, if possible future efforts to battle this issue.
Lately I have been mostly playing Rocket League where the developer does mute players for harassing others in-game via automated system both working without reports and with reporting. But still even with this system I have kept to 1vs1 game mode and avoid playing with a team at all costs.
And after all CS:GO is a team based game where people insist on communication in order to win, easier at least compared to zero team communication.
But those who know me, know that I am not much of a talker so for now I have mostly only played CS:GO if I happen to get invited to play by friends. Maybe this will change if the overall use of communication in-game turns for the better but I don’t have high hopes for that.. After all, “it’s the Internet”, is an excuse to act like other players aren’t human or have feelings in general.
[ COMMUNICATIONS ]
– Players who receive significantly more communication abuse reports than others will receive a warning. If they continue to receive significantly more reports they will be muted by default. Other players can unmute them through the scoreboard as usual.
– Muting a player will now also hide their name and avatar.
– Reporting a player for abusive communications will now automatically mute them.
